Introduction
Logistic management is the process of managing the movement and storage of company materials,
procurement systems, and inventories to ensure that its operations run smoothly in a cost-effective manner
(Montgomery, Jennings & Pfund, 2011). Modern companies are operating in a competitive environment, and they
depend on their logistics in maintaining their inventory sales, which in turn leads to profitability. Notably, the logistic
process is a critical area in a company and should be given priority. If it is not well managed, the company may lose
profits and many opportunities. To have high-quality logistics, the company should focus on quality control
systems. This paper discusses the importance of a quality control system in logistics management.
Identifying Defects and Scrap
According to Montgomery, Jennings & Pfund (2011), raw materials with defects lead to
finished products that are not desirable. Thus, the company must have a quality control check of
the raw materials. With low-quality materials, the finished products will be of low quality and
fetch a low market value. Several techniques and approaches are used to achieve product quality
control. Statistical process control (SPC) is the best statistical technique used in quality control to
monitor process behavior, and issues in the internal system then offer a solution for production
issues (Mitra, 2016). Amongst the tools, The Cause and Effect Diagram is the best. The tool
identifies the causes leading to a problem. The tool helps one agree on a problem statement, and
then note down the significant reasons that can lead to the issue and find out why the issues arise.
Problems that can lead to a particular cause should be stated on the paper until the ideas run out.
The person should then focus on the areas on the chart where ideas are few. Once the issues
