CHIVALRY 2
There are certain ideals of chivalry that still bear huge importance in today’s society. The
first one is courage, like in the case of Sir Gawain, who fought bravery for King Arthur. In
contemporary society, the value of courage cannot be understated, given that it encourages
people to stand for something and also have the guts to see it through. Notably, courage helps
people to think not only of themselves but also put an emphasis on the needs of other people. As
well, courage helps people to defend what is right at all times.
The second value is that of loyalty, which is evident from the manner that Sir Lancelot
serves his king. Notably, Lancelot emerges to be one of the greatest companions to King Arthur.
That is evident when King Arthur laments that he regrets not being reunited with Lancelot. Such
loyalty is very important in the contemporary setting. That is because it ensures that a person is
able to stand for something that of value. It is in that way that life gains meaning and purpose.
The third value is that of faith, as it was demonstrated by Sir Gawain. When he was about

his life while defending his king. In his case, he served in his duties without questions, and in
that way, he brought honor to the role of a knight. The same conduct should be replicated in the
contemporary world whereby people are willing to do all they can to ensure that the duties which
have been assigned to them are completed impeccably, and there are no loose ends. In other
words, people in modern society should bring honor to their roles, just like Sir Lucas did with his
