Having gone through the class conversations, several ideologies have developed in my
mind. This has led me to think of the social issues that may contribute to increased segregation,
housing inequalities, and racism. The specific social problem I would love to learn more about is
immigration stresses. Population influx into the country is a social problem as it has given rise to
other social problems. As more people move into the country, there is congestion over resources.
This includes the health facilities and other social resources.
So far, I know a few things about immigration stresses in the nation. Most of the people
moving in are from the South. Based on the US immigration statistics, Latinos, Mexicans, and
Africans move into the US almost daily. They settle in specific locations in the nation where they
meet with people from their nations (family, friends, among others). For me, this is contributing
to the segregation concept we have covered in this class. It is an ideology that is instilled within
the minds of many people. the whites and people of color do this intentionally or unintentionally.
Many people suffer at the hands of immigration officers. The situation is even worse when it
comes to the Latinos and Mexicans. The North has developed several social constructs about
