The core elements in evidence-based policing are uses of the available research laying on

the police's work outcome in implementing the guidelines and evaluating the agencies, officers,

and the units. Notably, evidence-based policing utilizes study in guiding the practice and

evaluating the practitioners. Worth noting, there is the usage of the best evidence in shaping the

best practice. This is a systematic effort in parsing out and codifying an experience, which is not

systematic, set as a ground for police work. The central emphasis is on the role of analyzing

crime in police work daily.

The elements relate to a study on criminal justice through substantiating information

offered based on facts and evidence. At the start of the research, evidence was collected from

official statistics whereby concerns were hailing from various researchers on the given

information's reliability and validity. An example is the Sutherland, which contended

invalidation of explanations on crime due to the statistics that exempted criminals (white-collar).

Census was used in gathering the earliest measures that later evolved into various criteria of a

physical interview in validating respondents' information ("Evidence-Based Policing - The

Center for Evidence-Based Crime Policy (CEBCP)," 2021).

This policing (evidence-based) core goal gives each officer tools for getting insights on

research and determining ways it can be used in addressing local crime issues. Notably,

evidence-based policing was used in criminal justice to implement the guidelines and evaluate

the various agencies (police), officers, and units. Therefore, evidence-based policing has been

integrated here in attempts to address specific traffic and crime issues. In addition, evidence-

based policing has been used in deterring repeat offenses, domestic predictors for homicides, and

the hot spot policing (Doucet, Poitras & Chênevert, 2009).
