Case study: Kayla
Child development is a critical issue that determines the future of a child. There are
significant theories and concepts that will aid in successful child development. With these concepts
and theories, the experts target maximizing a child's growth and minimizing detriments.
Concerning Kayla's case, there is a need to assist her in perfecting her growth. The purpose of this
paper is to discuss various developmental theories and instructional strategies that can be used to
help Kayla's situation.
Particularly, several developmental theories can get utilized in Kayla's growth. It is
significant to learn how children grow and change because it equips caregivers/parents with the
knowledge of appreciating emotional, social, cognitive, and educational growth throughout
childhood to adulthood. These theories are Vygotsky's social, cultural theory.
Vygotsky: Scaffolding
Vygotsky Scaffolding theory is influential in the education sector. Vygotsky, a
psychologist, believed that children are always active and use their hands most of the time.
Hence, it is wise to involve them in various activities. This theory uses the scaffolding concept,
allowing teachers to apply to individualized strategies to students to improve their ability (Barger
& Linnenbrink-Garcia, 2017). This concept is crucial in dealing with Kayla's condition since she
works alone and avoids being in groups for work. Kayla's habit of interacting with other students
and her involvement in group classwork affects her brain from thinking actively, therefore, the
teacher using the scaffolding concept will help Kayla have a healthy relationship with students
and be involved in a manful conversation. Social constructivism will help Kayla gain the ability
