The online classical music concert that I attended was "Beethoven's 9, by the Chicago
Symphony Orchestra" on YouTube. The date of the concert on May 8, 2015, when it was
recorded. My date of viewing was December 13, 2020. The place of the concert was the Chicago
symphony hall. It was performed by the Chicago Symphony. During the concert, there were
minimal visual effects. The musicians were all dressed in the Black tie. They were either in suits
or dresses. The setting is the orchestra hall. While there is some darkness in the hall, most of the
lighting is focused on the stage.
This concert 9 is known for being was longer and more perplexing than any ensemble to
date and required a bigger symphony. Further, it was novel in that there were vocal soloists and a
chorus at the end. When this was done in Beethoven’s time it was groundbreaking. In my
research before listening to the concert, I learned that it was performed on May 7, 1824. By this
time Beethoven had lost his hearing completely. The story is that when he finished someone had
to tap him so that he could turn around and bow to the audience (Team, 2020). Symphony
number 9 is about 70 minutes long and made up of four movements.
While listening to the concert, I was able to recognize some musical elements. The
Classical symphony revolves around the theme of unity and where humans are in the world. the
unity of mankind and our place in the universe.
The reason I chose this concert is that while I love classical music and am somewhat
familiar with Beethoven, I have not had an extended experience with Behtovoven. The part that I
liked the best was the fourth movement. This was because of the addition of the chorus and
singers. It was neat to see the mix of styles between the vocalists and musicians.

This movement starts with Notice the one of a kind way the ensemble starts, developing
continuously from total quietness to an intense, sensational sound. The sounds here remind me of
old heroic music. The cellos and deeper instruments are muted in favor of the violins and violas.
The musical composition here focuses on the melody to show the event and stress the musical
abilities of the musicians. The instruments that stuck out the most here where the wind
instruments. This is because I could hear them clearly almost as if they had mini solos during this
concert.
Movement 2
This movement is much more playful. There are many lyrics and harmony that interplay
in this section. Here it sounds like the instruments are whimsical and dancing with each other.
There is a sort of profoundly unpredictableness to this section. This is seen with the unexpected
notes that come through while listening.
Movement 3
Overall this movement is much more developed. It is slow and methodical compared to
the other movements. Each note moves with thought. The music is contemplative and the
melodic structures are grasped as a piece of the occasion, an impression, which stresses and
underlines the principle thought. Further, here the orchestra seems small, with its presentation.
Further, establishes huge frightening connections, which can be achieved through components of
music like decreased harmonies. All specialized and natural sounds can likewise be useful for the
creation of an air of dread. Further, the elements of Discord are vital to the ghastliness and the
pitch itch, which makes a sound gets lower, is principal for the formation of full franticness and
use that almost covers over you in this part.
