Running Head: Management Decision Making. 2
1. Explain the objective of this study titled as Intuitive and Rational Cognition in the
Theory and Practice of Management Sciences”. (300-400 words) 2 Marks
The case presents a detailed study of some of the complexities presented in the management
decision-making process and how intuition and rational cognition influence management
sciences' theory and practice. The primary aim and or objective of this article is to try and
analyze or explain the role of rational or intuitive cognition in the theory and practice of
management. As it is common knowledge that management is a science since it is complex and
detailed. The decision-making process is often characterized by severe uncertainty, which bears
significant pressure on managers since they are often faced with minimal or no information or
complete lack of or incomplete data (Abubakar et al 2019). As such, the article first defined the
significant concepts that entail intuition to help understand and interpret the basic concepts
before a more in-depth analysis. Further analysis of the conceptual tools for rational and or
intuitive judgment while further analyzing intuition as a special skill that managers can adapt for
sustainability. In doing so, the article critically looks into the theoretician's or practitioner's work
context and analyses some of the similarities and differences of their intuitive perception.
For proper and thoroughness of the analysis, the article is divided into models and segments or
methods as; conceptual construction method, which is characterized by developing intuition
concepts, a four-stage model of a creative process described by explaining the role of intuition in
the management theorist's work, and four-stage model of competence and of system 1 and
system 2 which analyses the role of intuition in the management practitioner's work (Nowak &
Ziomek, 2019). These applications helped give the analysis a clear perspective for effectiveness
and accuracy. The article is then divided into six sections. Each section analyzes a different
concept; for instance, section one tackled the theoretical challenges related to applying intuition
