Cultural Differences
It is essential to note that culture ensures an organization's success in different aspects in
an organization. Culture is a critical underlying value known for giving direction on how people
behave in an organization. Differences in a culture referred to as cultural diversity in an
organization are caused by practices, traditions, or beliefs of employees according to race, religion,
ethnicity, age, and gender. The main factor that contributes to cultural diversity in the workplace.
The modern workforce in different organizations is featured with different genders, religions, ages,
and nationalities (Mariani, Borghi & Okumus, 2020).
However, workforce diversity benefits are featured with providing both material and
intangible services in an organization. Most importantly, for the organization to reap the benefits
of cultural diversity noted at the workplace, there is a need for communication and commitment
to solving the different challenges associated with a diverse workforce. Employees are supposed
to understand diversity at the workplace and work together to achieve a common goal.
Therefore, it is the leadership role to establish a common ground for employees in the
workplace to work together and meet the organization's common goals. Leadership should select
the right communication strategies among the different races, sharing resources, and ensuring that
employees interact to be successful. Hence, it is a leadership issue to solve the cultural difference
in an organization. The common problems that the leadership should solve include conflict,
harassment, and disregarding needs (Schmidt, Heffernan & Ward, 2020). Providing sensitivity
training, creating written policies, and making an accountability plan at the workplace can be vital
for solving this problem.
