An electronic vaulting strategy is scheduled every night to allow data to be backed up daily. It allows

RPO of 1 day. When the data is copied electronically, it is forwarded to an off-site server for storage.

When using this strategy, the RTO is increased, depending on the location of the storage vault, the size

of data, and the speed in which the data is being transferred. This strategy allows to have data stored

at a specific site. In this case, it’ll be the warm site.

The warm site strategy is used for system to recover at an alternate processing site the off-site where

hardware is located. The warm site is required for hardware to be available at the remote facility.

The site will have the following set up:

• Required software to be installed

• Hardware is configured for the client

• Data is restored

• The system is tested

• Employees are permitted to access system files.

The system provides for 3-5 days of RTO and can provide an RPO of 1 day.

II. Vendor or Internal Strategy? Document if you will use a vendor facility (external strategy) to

house your equipment or one of your internal locations (the latter is an internal strategy).

(Remember that this Company has multiple facilities in which you may locate your hardware

for your strategy if you choose an INTERNAL location. NOTE: If you choose one of these

facilities, you must DOCUMENT which facility you will use and WHY you selected it.)

The recommended strategy is to use a vendor facility (external strategy) for the warm site. This way

the hardware is not located at one of the company’s offices causing disaster to data.

III. Justify Vendor or Internal Strategy: State WHY you are using a Vendor or Internal Strategy.

The warm site strategy is recommended because it allows for the hardware to be available ATOD from

the remote vendor facility. This strategy allows time to restore hardware and software, but it is less

costly than any other strategy. The company is allowing for 1-week time for RTO, which is why this

strategy is effective. This allows the client to configure and test recovery of the hardware and software.
