Effectiveness of Online Education
Introduction
Online education is becoming increasingly popular as education administrators and
learners embrace it as an alternative to the traditional learning. The trend is caused by challenges
such as high costs, course shortages, and inflexibility that characterize traditional education.
Unlike traditional learning, online education provides great opportunity for optimizing the
application of technology to eliminate or minimize the challenges of traditional learning (Dell,
2012). Learners prefer the latter mode of study because it is convenient, affordable, and
interactive. Consequently, online education becomes an effective alternative for mature, self-
disciplined, organized and motivated learners. Students only need to manage their time well and
complete online assignments and respond to discussion posts. Basing on the aforementioned
factors, this paper argues that online education is effective because it is less expensive and
flexible, convenient and provides the opportunity to interact with technology.
Online Education is Less Expensive and Flexible
Not only is online education cheaper but it is also flexible than the traditional classes as
established by Mayadas, Bourne, and Bacsich (2009). A new phenomenon, online learning
revolutionizes the way students learn without attending physical classrooms or needing an
instructor. Instructors can deliver online resources through conference centers, Gmail, or via
Skype (Mayadas et al., 2009). Consequently, it provides learners the opportunity to study
preferred courses at comparatively affordable rates, a contrast to the traditional education system.
Online education has benefits for various stakeholders such as education administrators,
institutions and faculties as is seen in a study by Mayadas et al. (2009). Relying on research and
