Introduction
Cultural diversity is the differences that every person has regarding their ways of life as
well as beliefs. The differences can either come from their varying beliefs, age, social status, sex,
and ethnicity. In a workplace diversity is looked at regarding employees who have different as
well as varying characters right from their religious beliefs, political orientation, gender,
educational pedigree, sexual orientation, and even geographical location. It is important that
various individuals in an organization possess different backgrounds in a bid to diversify some of
the labor the organization has. This greatly benefits the organization in many ways and in this
essay we are going to look at the difference in culture and diversity at the workplace.
Examples of cultural diversity in the workplace
Most of the time employees are more similar than they are different. Despite this
similarities, there are some differences that the employees possess which cannot be overlooked.
Cultural differences which are the values, traditions, and beliefs that someone has are some of
the greatest differences amongst employees in the workplace. Some of this factors include
generation, educational background and personal background which involves ethnicity.
Various employees in the workplace are from a plethora of generations’ right from the
traditionalist, the millennials, generations X and Y as well as the baby boomers. Each of this
generations has different characters. For instance, the baby boomers are usually very committed
to their work but have no fear of changing employers. The Y generation also has a great value
for professional development and are usually technologically oriented.
When it comes to education, there are those employees who attribute academic success to
workplace efficiency and those who believe learning on the job is the best idea. This can
