LINKEDIN CASE STUDY 2
LinkedIn Case Study
With more than sixteen years of customer satisfaction as a professional social
networking platform, LinkedIn has become more productive and diverse. Virtual organization
management requires finding a good business model that will develop effectiveness and
productivity. LinkedIn started back in the year 2003, struggling for efficiency, but since its
incorporation by Microsoft, it has enjoyed massive revenues. The main reason for efficiency
was the business model that was integrated into LinkedIn, compassing four significant pillars.
As a result, the article will provide a discussion on the business model adopted in LinkedIn and
how it has generated effectiveness for the company.
Business Model Used
LinkedIn has more than 660 million users who have been managed efficiently by the
business model that this website uses. A business model is a strategy used to ensure that all the
activities and operations in an organization that generates revenue are managed efficiently. The
business model that LinkedIn integrated into its system is a multi-sided freemium model that
has four major components. They include premium subscriptions, talent solutions, learning and
development, and marketing solutions. They are the main channels that generate revenue for
the social networking company.
The first component of the LinkedIn business model is the talent solutions that
recruiters use in finding the required professional expertise across the website. The talent
solution product, as a component, has three significant features that make the whole process a
success. They include the In Mail service, the talent pipeline management, and the advanced
searches. In Mail service, as the first feature, enables recruiters to email all the desired
professionals across the globe without limit in search of qualified candidates. The talent
pipeline management is a dashboard tool created for efficient tracking of skilled professionals.
