Assessing the Impact of sex offender on reoffending
2
Abstract
The topic of sex offenders has become one of the most controversial issues in society, mass
media, as well as the crime policymakers. This is mainly because sex offenders are regarded as the most
dangerous of all offenders in almost every corner of the world. It has not been entirely determined
whether the perceptions of sex offenders are justified. However, over the last few decades, studies have
been conducted on the issue to rehabilitate sex offenders and also reduce the probability of
reoffending. This investigation will provide the relevant authorities with knowledge of the best methods
and strategies of managing sex offenders. Hence, the project has a considerable potential to influence
practice and policies touching on sex offenders rehabilitation. In case the study shows that the intensive
treatment minimises sex offender recidivism, the treatment of sex offenders could be expanded in the
UK. This, in turn, can ensure that a significant proportion of high risks and medium risk sex offenders
receive treatment, thus, reducing the probability of reoffending when it comes to the treated
individuals.
