Elements Found in Effective Health Care Work
Introduction
Numerous things can stand in the way of effective communication within a group or an
organization. Communication remains a challenge for most organizations and lacks effective
communication strategies amongst team members, especially within a healthcare organization
where there is frequent communication. This assignment will provide a proposed quality
improvement plan that will involve identifying the various elements found in a health care
workgroup and identifying barriers to communication that may cause conflict within a group.
The essay will also establish some communication techniques that may be used to prevent these
conflicts and ways of improving communication among departments in the organization to avoid
conflict and ways leaders can prevent conflict within the organization's team.
Identification of Elements Found in an Effective Health Care Work
Several elements of healthcare excellence characterize an influential health care workgroup. One
such element is rapid and open access to care services at all hours of a day by establishing
effective healthcare and behavioral health system (Luckett et al., 2014). This can be best
achieved through equipping the facility and the medical team with metal detectors and complex
search procedures to ensure that the patients and health care staff members are safe. The second
element is the practices of a culture of resiliency and recovery. Such a culture can be best
achieved by empowering team members across all departments to equip them with the skills to
solve situations and prevent assaultive and hostile behavior (Luckett et al., 2014). The third
element of effective health care is a comprehensive whole-person, ensuring that care providers
exercise forward momentum in health care.

based care, which involves all employees working as a multi-disciplinary team to ensure high-
quality care is provided to the patients. One of the best strategies to achieve this is by providing
patient-centered care services (Luckett et al., 2014). The fourth element of an effective health
care workgroup is high-value services, which ensures that health care providers exercise
improved patient care practices and are at the cutting edge.
Analysis of Barriers to Communication that may Cause Conflict within a Group
Communication within a healthcare organization is characterized by numerous barriers that
significantly affect the delivery of quality care services. One of the barriers to delivery of care is
time constraints given the nature of care services provided by nurses and health care
professionals (Berge, 2013). Hurried communication increasingly contributes to ineffective
communication since the risk of not communicating some necessary details to patients' delivery
of care is increasingly high. Secondly, pain and significant fatigue barriers whereby care
providers or patients may be too tired to effectively communicate (Berge, 2013). For instance,
patients may be in pain or fatigued due to the side effects of medications taken while care
providers may be fatigued due to working for long hours. In such a case, there is a high risk of
miscommunication.
Jargon is the third key communication barrier. The use of clinical acronyms and technical jargon
with patients and care providers may significantly affect communication (Berge, 2013). The
fourth communication barrier is language whereby diversity is another critical barrier of
