CLOUD COMPUTING EFFICIENCIES 2
Introduction
Cloud computing is the process of delivering various computing services like storage,
servers, networking, etc. over the internet (Stergiou & Ishibashi, 2018). It generally entails
splitting of computer software to create a virtual computer system over the internet through
which computer storage, networking, and other services can be easily offered. Platform-as-a-
service refers to a type of cloud computing that entails the provision of a virtual platform for
running an organization’s applications without necessarily building up the physical, software,
and hardware systems. On the other hand, infrastructure as a service refers to a form of cloud
computing that provides instant management of computer applications over the internet (Stergiou
& Ishibashi, 2018). Both types of cloud computing are essential for organizations that critically
rely on cloud computing to make their servers operational all the time.
How Paas and Iaas can be used to achieve cloud computing efficiency
Infrastructure as a service can innovatively be used by an organization to enhance optimum
service provision at the lowest cost possible (Stergiou & Ishibashi, 2018). The flexibility of the
cloud computing type enables an organization to scale down its operations depending on the
number of the application being used hence making it only pay for the services used thus making
it operate within the budget constraints. Secondly, both Paas and Iaas can be leveraged by an
organization to avoid incurring the expenses of buying and maintain expensive physical
hardware and software components like servers, networking devices, etc. Lastly, a platform as a
service can be; leveraged by an organization to create virtual cloud servers for storage and
management of the organization’s activities (Stergiou & Ishibashi, 2018). This makes all
applications to be provided over the internet for easy accessibility hence making the cloud
servers to be functional all the time.
