BLACK DISCIPLES GANG 2
Black Disciples Gang
The Black Disciples are a Chicago gang commonly known as folks that gained
international recognition in 1994 after executing its eleven-year-old member "Yummy." Black
Disciple is structured like a religion where gang leaders are referred to as ministers. The Gang
traces its origin from King David Barksdale and has existed over time due to children's
exploitation. The BDs are considered extremely violent and engage in drug trafficking and
distribution, robbery, and theft. Their mission is to create dynasties involved in child exploitation,
gun trafficking, money laundering, embezzlement, racketeering, and other criminal activities. The
Black Disciples are part of the alliance of street gangs known as People Nation. The Gang recruits
individuals who wish to be members by following rules, being obedient, conforming to gang
principles, and carrying out the Gang orders. In return, the members are protected by the Gang
against harm from other gangs or cults. Most recruited are youths, underage juveniles who mostly
engage in substance use and other criminal activities (Hiphop Database, 2020).
