BUSINESS QUESTION 2
Silicon Valley Technology hub
Silicon Valley refers to the United States center for innovative technology companies
located in San Francisco, California. It has the densest concentration of tech companies globally,
with a total of 2000 companies (Amadeo, 2020). Most of these companies hold leadership
positions in the industries they belong including social media, software, and other internet uses.
This paper seeks to evaluate assessments by economists of the role played by the four factors of
production in determining how the Silicon Valley Technology hub evolved.
How it was influenced by Competition and Pricing
Silicon Valley Technology hub is a popular place for most startup companies for tech
innovation. They believed that they had to go through Silicon Valley to get the right talent for
them to be successful. The company still remains popular by pricing. Competition has caused a
decline in its popularity as it used to be years ago because finding the right talent is no longer
limited to Silicon Valley. The competition for employees in Silicon Valley has become
unsustainable to some investors, causing them to consider other talent hubs because jobs in the
field of engineering and technology have spread to other industries. With this, many of the
founders of startup companies end up questioning whether they still need to be in Silicon Valley.
Pricing also influenced Silicon Valley. With the high housing costs and rise in salaries, most
startups like those from China decided to go back to China instead of staying around Silicon
Valley (Kokalitcheva, 2018). The rates of leasing residential and commercial buildings and the
prices of homes at Silicon value became out of reach for some of the investors, influencing their
decisions to leave Silicon Valley. This negatively influenced the tech hub because most investors
were considering other options with friendlier pricing and less competition.
