This paper shall discuss the differences and similarities between the ACA code of
Conduct and the professional counselling informed consent form from the Professional
Counselling Services of Ohio. It will also compare the consent form and contrast between the
Ohio state rules and regulations. Finally, the paper shall react to the consent form issued by
the Professional Counselling Services of Ohio.
The Informed Consent form I used is very much financial oriented, unlike the ACA
code of ethics that primarily encourages counsellors to devote part o their time to serve the
society in a free. For example, the consent form indicates charges related to the late
cancellation of appointments to full payment of fees if the counsellor waits for over 15
minutes and the patient fail to attend.
Just like the ACA code of ethics requires, the consent form does illustrate the risks
and the benefits involved during the process (American Counselling Association, 2014). The
consent form has indicated to the client the challenges he may face since the process requires
a lot of sharing of unpleasant stories that may lead to frustration and anger. This Informed
consent form has covered it.
Both ACA code of ethics and the informed consent form have outlined the need for
Confidentiality (American Counselling Association, 2014). The client must be assured their
information shall be treated with a lot of privacy. And they should be told the circumstance
under which their information can be shared such as during a court proceeding and there is an
order for the data to be released.
For both the ACA code of ethics and the informed consent form Ohio Professional
counselling services require the consent of the client. This is why the consent form must be
