History of North America
Physical Geography
Laying its most part between Tropic of Cancer and Arctic Circle, North America is
the third largest when compared to the world's largest continents. The western hemisphere is
the northern landmass portion that is occupied by North America. The landmass is also
named as the Americas or the New World. North America is usually triangle-shaped,
whereby the Apex is located in the south and the base in the north. Being the largest island in
the world, Greenland can be associated with North America's Continent (Paul F. et al.). From
the northern side, North America borders the Arctic Ocean, while to the southern part, it is
bounded by the Caribbean Sea, on the east is North Atlantic Ocean, and North Pacific Ocean
from the west. Other Offshore groups include the West Indies, Arctic Archipelago, Aleutian
Islands, and the Haida Gwaii.
