The Reality about Social Media Usage

Social media: friend or foe reviews some of the positive and negative impacts that have

resulted from social media use. Having been invited for lunch by a friend the author Kara

Woodridge gets herself to a conversation that was not actually directed to her. She gets annoyed

when she realizes that her friend was speaking to Siri 'the voice of the virtual iPhone assistant'

instead of speaking to her. It is sarcastic for her- a blogger user who uses social media for a

living to complain about technology. The evolution of the first social media started back in 2003,

since then there has been great development on this platform advancement. Social media has

brought great benefits than loses to society in the entire globe. Social media sites such as

Facebook and Twitter help connect people through chatting and news sharing. Despite this, there

are hundreds of social networking sites: professional, hobby, photo sharing, video sharing, and

gaming sites that play a key role in technology development.

Social media helps people interact with their loved ones. Social media has become part of

many people's everyday lives. It's truly the first tool that connects the entire world. Sites like

Foursquare allow people to "check-in" to different places to let their network know where they

are. Through different video sharing sites, we can inform others what is actually happening in

our lives by sharing videos, chatting with them or a video call. This has made it possible to have

a social security and also feel comfortable despite the social distance

Help in sharing of information and News. Most of the people in the world use social

media as a way to get news. Over half of all Americans have learned about a breaking news story

using social media. This shows that social media plays a major role in sharing information, hence

serving as the quickest means of communication. The information shared on social media can
