through a reorganization

and you have been tasked

with firing three of your

team members.

Face-To-Face

Conversation

Terminating employees can be a very

difficult decision to make. Being that it can

be so difficult, the situation needs to be

handled with the most personal mode. The

person being fired might be humiliated or

hurting emotionally. You don’t want to

degrade them by not have a face-to-face

conversation about it. Using face-to-face

you will be showing the person that they are

not just a number and that they are just not

right for the position. You will never want to

complete such a task in a public setting.

Ensure you have a private setting with the

employee. It’s also best to have the

employee, a moderator and yourself present

during such time. To ensure that everything

is handled properly.

You have a last minute

change to a meeting

agenda and need to let

meeting attendees know

about it quickly.

Text Message

With this situation being a last-minute

change, you need to ensure you can let

everyone involved know the fastest way

possible and a text message would be

adequate. You are able to create a group

chat and let everyone know at once.

However, since it is for a formal situation

you still need to be professional and have

proper etiquette. You want your message to

be clear, concise, and to the point. There is

no reason to jumble everything into the

message. You will never want to use jargon

in this format. You are not aware if everyone

will understand and it can cause confusion.

When it comes to running any special or

limited offers, you need to reach people fast.

You don’t want to not be able to let them

know of what’s going on so by calling or

sending an email you will ensure they are
