I tend to have a growth mind in taking feedback positive as an opportunity for growth and
learning. This is triggered by my desire to be rewarded or praised. For example, I take my class
assignment’s feedback from the professor seriously and act upon them. According to Dwerk
(2019), a fixed mindset makes the assumption that people’s intelligence, character, and creative
capabilities cannot be changed. An area of my life that I tend to have a fixed mindset is when
taking a challenging task; I always see no point of trying if I am going to fail. The thing that triggers
this fixed mindset is fear of dealing failure or being laughed at in case the task does not become
successful.
Not trying because of fear and certainty of failure is a fixed mindset that I can change to
a growth mindset. This can be achieved by cultivating a mindset of seeing the importance of trying
and seeing failure as a learning curve, when confronted with a difficult task. Simply, try, try, and
try again. By doing so, it will it will positively affect my behavior, emotions, and physiology.
Psychologically, I will have a positive attitude. Being a student faced with various challenges, I
will tend to display positive emotions and feelings. My behavior will positively change as well.
