CYBER SECURITY IN THE AGE OF COVID-19: A TIMELINE AND ANALYSIS OF CYBERCRIME AND CYBER-ATTACKS DURING THE PANDEMIC. BY NAME ID Abstract Covid-19 has had a global influence, forcing countries to implement lockdowns, which has opened the door to virtual learning and work-from-home culture. Despite the fact that virtual learning and online meetings were accessible before the lockdowns, their use has increased significantly. Many people are unaware of the dangers of utilizing these platforms, which makes them more vulnerable to cyber-crime assaults, such as phishing. Lockdowns have created new criminal possibilities for cyber criminals, and data reveals that the number of cyber-crimes has risen rampantly during this time. As a result of a lack of public knowledge, perpetrators have taken advantage of innocent victims. Public and private authorities were caught off guard by the outbreak and the subsequent lockdowns, thus no plans could be made in advance for training personnel or securing these platforms. These platforms will be of value to society if they can be made safe; nevertheless, more work must be done to attain perfect cyber security.
