Discuss the importance of a change agent and a guiding team. What is the purpose of each, and
what traits makes them successful?
All organizational change, big or small, necessitates the involvement of one or maybe
more change agents. In any change initiative, the role of the change agent is one of the most
significant and challenging (Hammer, 2017). Anyone with the ability and power to guide and
facilitate change is referred to as a change agent. Change agents are also recognized as change
advocate. They help with the change management process by creating an enabling environment.
They inspire and influence others to empower a company, or a substantial portion of a company,
change how it continues to operate. A change agent helps an organization incorporate change by
promoting, facilitating, guiding, and managing it (Tschirky et al., 2011). Change agents are
important since they are inherent, such as managers and staff who are authorized to supervise the
process of change. Effective change agents can explore different points of view and consider
them when looking for solutions. This will aid in gaining support for a change; people want to
believe that others are paying attention to their suggestions. By gaining trust, those who do so
will develop stronger relationships with their people (Brown, 2014). The guiding team provides
the essential training to the workforce and management in order to perpetuate and hardwire the
change process. Engaging with people's behaviors and attitudes usually necessitates a dive
beneath the surface to comprehend the organization's developments. In order to determine the
stages most likely to overcome problems and bring about success, the guiding team looks for
clues that reveal what is really preventing change from occurring. An excellent change agent put
themselves in the shoes of those who will be significantly affected by the change. They require a
high level of empathy as well as exceptional communication skills. In addition, good change

agents must be able to work as a team, form strong interpersonal relationships, and communicate
effectively within groups. For leaders seeking to implement innovative tactics and transform
their organizations, a powerful, enthusiastic guiding team from across the organization is a
critical tool (Brown, 2014). People admire perseverance and accountability. In guiding and
directing effectively, change agents ought to decisively hold themselves fully accountable for
their team’s performance. They may have to make choices which go against critics and can
create conflict, but using with certainty and being prepared to deal with the consequences of
change demonstrates that their intentions are motivated by the team's and organization's best
interests, earning their people's trust.
