CRIMINAL JUSTICE. 2
Criminal Justice
Part one
An officer who engages in a sexual relationship with an inmate is most likely to be caught.
There are three main reasons why an officer is wrong to be in a relationship with an inmate.
They are;
1. First, the officers in such a relationship develop a behavior change that may lead to low
and deteriorating daily routine performance like late coming and poor excuses.
2. A romantic relationship with a fellow officer makes the other staff suspicious of
something, which may lead to accusations and inspections.
3. The secrecy of such an issue in a correctional service center is not guaranteed. The other
inmates who sense such occasions are likely to share the confidential with another
inmate.
The information will, in the long run, reach the institution's management. The
accusations may arise from other officers who may feel sidelined and not involved in the entire
issue, and they may plan to expose the victims.
Part two and three
Correctional workplaces are more exposed to unethical behaviors than any other
workplace. The workplace has strong, multiple-cultured, different norms, values, and traditions
and different history-based personnel who interact often. The individuals may not hold secrets
and may feel free to share with colleagues’ issues concerning workmates. Ethics are essential in
a workplace because they guide the staff's conduct and establish principles, directives, and good
conduct values. Ethics promotes fairness, respect, and integrity of the staff towards each other.
Ethics help judge the behaviors and the conduct of the people as just, fair, or law-abiding.
