Abstract
Adult development is affected by many changes that occur throughout the life of a human being.
This research seeks to do a study on how normative and non-normative events affect human
development on different individuals who are sampled, each having different adulthood stages.
Interpersonal relationships are also studied since they also affect the socioemotional
development of individuals. Adult development is affected by many factors that surround human
beings since they affect the decisions they make as they grow.

Adult Development
Introduction
Adult development basically is the changes that become visible in both the biological and
Psychological part of human life upon completion of adolescence until death. The changes can
be slow or fast, and they can be of pros or cons, or no changes from the previous level in terms
of functioning. The changes occur at the cellular level and are explained by theories of growing
old, referred to as Biological Theories. The changes that occur biologically affect the psychology
and social changes, which are known as stage theories of human development. The stage theories
are mainly 'age appropriate' development tasks that are accomplished at different stages.
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to research the adult development of different people so as to know
how they react to normative and non-normative events and to also show how the various
decisions people make are varied depending on the situations they face at that time.
The Literature Review
Social and emotional aspects of aging are evident in many theories. These aspects include social
connectedness and the role someone plays in their culture. According (Zhang & D Kaufman ,
2015). who studied over half a century data, human beings need to find meaning in all their
lifetime. Early and middle adulthood finds meaning through work and family life. The area is in
relation to the tasks Erikson referred to as generativity versus stagnation and intimacy versus
isolation.
