According to the Project Management Institute in chapter one, a project is a temporary
activity that seeks to develop unique services, results, or products (Larson & Gray, 2011). This
project meets this definition such that the topic describes an inspection that would uncover
crucial developments in the Aircraft safety management of an Embraer 190. Additionally, this
project also qualifies after meeting all the characteristics of a project. These include an
established objective, defined timeline or lifespan, the use of numerous resources and
departments, a unique endeavor, and there is s specific cost, time, and performance requirements.
I consider this endeavor a project rather than a daily job because it’s unique and has a defined
timeline with already established costs and resources required. Further, the project results will
promote aircraft inspection protocols and procedures.
Unlike project management, which mainly focuses on a deadline, program management
involves untimed operations with a long-term strategy and planning. Also, while projects run on
the project’s timeline, programs are typically associated with an organization’s financial
calendar, such as quarterly results. An organization structure outlines how operations will take
place towards achieving specific goals. Such procedures may include coordination, allocation of
tasks, and active supervision. The organizational structure directly impacts institutional actions
and avails the foundation for operational activities and routine tests. An excellent organizational
structure promotes faster decision-making, operational efficiency, employee performance, and
communication.
The project fits within the organizational structure and culture because it aligns with its
goals of providing the best transport services to consumers. For instance, identifying the major
risks prepare the aircraft and assists in mitigating any possible problem that may arise in the
course of the flight. Besides, it increases commitment to the desired goal. Often when a project is
