COFFEE AND TEA 2
The key scenario identified in the previous session entails the examination of a tea and
coffee machine and the process involved in the user information input and output. As such, this
scenario can be further explored by examining the amount of sales of both coffee and tea that can
be made in a particular duration. The assessment of coffee and tea sales is an important approach
towards making proper decisions that can ensure stability and reliability of the profits. Following
the generation of a structure that allows the identification of whether a consumer has purchased a
cup of coffee or a cup of tea, the prediction of these sales can be examined with reference to a
number of factors.
The data used in the exploration of this scenario was obtained from a 24 hour-observation
of a local cafeteria. This observation and record of data particularly focused on the amount of
coffee and tea sales generated. Besides, different type of snacks and the variating price of each cup
of tea and coffee were also observed. Also, the data gathering involved the assessment of the
impact of branded takeaway cups on the amount of sales of both tea and coffee. The collected data
can be used to make proper decisions that can aid boost the sales volume of the beverages.
For example, the correlation between the branded cups and the total sales volume of both
tea and coffee has been examined using the decision tree analysis in R-studio (presented in figure
1 below). The key conclusion that can be made from the graphical output is that offering branded
takeaway cups increases the amount of coffee and tea sales. From this output, proper decision that
can be made is to increase the availability of branded takeaway cups during the purchase process
of the beverages.
