Child development takes place at different stages. The implication is that a child will
show various developments at different ages. Therefore, differences and similarities might occur
when a comparison is made on children of varying ages. Child development entails changes in
psychological, biological, and emotional. These changes will be continuous from birth to
adolescence. Therefore, between birth and adolescence, a child is set to undergo many changes
that will differ from children based on their age. In this paper, the discussion entails similarities
and differences in one social and personality development of the infant versus the psychosocial,
social, and moral development of the preschool child. Second is the physical and intellectual
development of the preschool child, the physical, intellectual/cognitive development of middle
childhood, and the physical and cognitive development of the adolescent.
There are many developmental similarities between the social and personality
development of the infant and the psychosocial, social, and moral development of the preschool
child. Both the infant and the preschool child are developing their sense of self, understanding of
others, and ability to interact with others. Both the infant and the preschool child are developing
their sense of self, understanding of others, and ability to interact with others (Gross, 2020). It
can be done through exploration, trial and error, and forming relationships with people and
objects. The differences between the two groups lie in their level of development and how they
achieve these goals. For example, an infant may explore their environment by reaching out and
touching things, while a preschooler may use words to communicate their intentions. They are
also learning how to regulate their emotions and think about and solve problems.
In addition, both the infant and preschool child develop their cognitive abilities, such as
their ability to reason and problem-solve. The infant is learning to think about the world around
them and figure out how things work. The preschool child is starting to learn more complex
