MOLLYS GAME 2
Reardon belittled Molly’s hustle. He claimed that the bagels are from Pink Dot and
associated them with poor people. In one of his statements Reardon tells Molly that, “I do not eat
bagels from Pink fucking Dot, Molly, these are fucking poor people bagels.” (Sorkin 20)
Reardon later throws the bag to Molly’s head. This was disrespectful. However, Reardon did this
to recruit Molly as a waitress. Out of the frustrations, Molly left her hustle and joined Reardon as
a waitress in his club where she also helped Reardon manage the gambling game. Player X was
the most successful player. This is because he was so influential and attracted new players to the
game. However, he tried to influence Molly by manipulating her using her influence and
monetary ability. Player X used unethical tricks to maintain her consistency in the game by
paying Harlan to stay in the game. Molly could not allow this to happen since she was
responsible for managing the gambling. However, Player X changes the venue after he was
exposed. He leaves with other players since he was influential leaving Molly alone. Therefore,
Player X tried to use his prowess to influence Molly so that he could continue maintaining his
consistency in the game.
Molly relocated to New York after Reardon’s gambling crumbled. She started
underground gambling. The Russian and Italian mafias wanted to extort money from the non-
playing players in Molly’s underground gambling. However, molly declined their request for
fear it would tarnish her business. However, Molly was attacked, held at gunpoint and her
mother’s life was threatened. This was done to intimidate and manipulate Molly to accept the
Russian and Italian mafias’ request. Shortly, a raid was conducted by FBI agents at Molly’s
home. Douglas Downey a player at Molly's underground gambling had informed the authorities
about Molly's activities. Her property was sized since she carried out illegal gambling. This was
a setup so that Molly could give in to the Russian and Italian mafias' request (Stables 2018).
