My experience in life that has changed my personality is the death of my 28
year old daughter, December 17th, 2009. She had a hydrocodone addiction
since 2000. she battled the problem for 9 years and finally overdose. My
husband found her at 7:00 a.m. when he tried to wake her to get her 9 and 7
year old daughters ready for school.
The event has definitely changed my personality. I have at the current time
slipped into a depression and have became somewhat withdrawn. I have to
push myself everyday to function. I have had a personality change toward the
good also. I have learned that my husband, son, and grandkids are the most
important things in my life. I have learned to a degree to live one day at a time
and not worry so much about the future. I have a more sensitive personality
and different events in life affect me more deeply.
My personality has been determined by genetics and environmental
influences. My family has a lot of emotional problems and my siblings and
myself have a lot of our parents personality traits. But my environment of
growing up with an alcoholic mother that abandoned me at the age of 9 years
old has contributed to my personality of being a withdrawn, depressed, and
anxious person. I would have to say that my personality is influence
approximately 50% my environmental influences and 50% genetics.
