SABRINA LIMON MURDER TRIAL: AN OVERVIEW 2
It is worth noting that the Sabrina lemon murder trial was one of the most popular and
highly watched cases in the state of California in particular and the United States in general.
Apart from the OJ Simpson trial, California's condition had not come across many such high-
profile cases for a long time. There are, however, glaring differences between the two trials in
that the Simpson trial attracted racial sentiments with the law enforcement officers being accused
of planting incriminating evidence meant to fix OJ Simpson, a successful black man being set by
a predominantly white Los Angeles county police department (Driscoll & Salwen, 1997).Both
trials fit the category of a love triangle whereby one of the star-crossed lovers must die for the
beloved other to thrive. Sabrina Limon was a 37-year-old American woman with two kids
married to Robert Limon. In both these murder cases, innocent kids were part of the equation in
tragic murders that claimed one of their two parents. No child must undergo such trauma in a
real-life situation, but it is always logical that we do not live in a perfect world where order
reigns supreme.
The Story in Brief
On August 17, 2014, Sabrina's husband, Robert Limon, covered a coworker shift at his
regular place of work. As a responsible husband and father, he knew that he was supposed to put
in more hours to live the American dream and ensure he catered for his family's mounting
financial needs. His work was the train yard in Santa Fe, California, where his coworkers highly
regarded him since he was a reliable person, resilient, hardworking, and a team player. Even on
this tragic day, Robert Limon was not doing his 40- hour schedule but was covering for a friend
who requested him to do his shift. This could be why his employer gave out a prize of $100,000
for any credible information leading to the arrest and prosecution of the person who murdered
Robert. Robert's workplace was around forty-five minutes’ drive from his Helendale home in
Kern County, California, United States. He resided in his home with his wife Sabrina and
LeAnna and Robby, their two beloved children. Since he anticipated getting back home after the
regular 8-hour shift, Robert had promised his kids that he would be home at 8 pm. That was
never meant to be as he never returned home that night.
Sabrina’s phone records indicated that she spoke with her husband in the early morning
of the day, but Robert informed her that he was too busy at work and will even take a quick
lunch and get back to work. Sabrina also took time to visit her mother, who had a broken hip,
and claimed she sent his husband a message at around 5.00 pm. Still, when he did not respond,
she did not get worried since she knew he was always swamped at work, most times unable to
pick or immediately return her calls. Whatever happens, she expected her husband to be back
from work at 8.00 pm as promised, so when he did not get back home at 8.00 pm, she started
sending text messages which went unanswered. She also informed the investigators that she
called his phone several times, but the phone went unanswered. She looked like a woman who
genuinely missed her husband and badly wanted him back home.
A few hours after 8 o’clock, two workmates of Robert paid a visit to Sabrina’s physical
address and informed her that Robert had been hurt at work. Sabrina told the investigators that
she initially thought that her husband had sustained some injuries at work but did not think that
her husband was already dead until the police informed him that Robert had been murdered at his
workplace. When the officer inquired from her whether Robert had any sworn enemies who
