GULF OF ADEN CASE STUDY
Definition
In 2019, Dryad Global launched a discussion meant to determine if privacy would still be a
threat to shipping in the Indian Ocean waters (Dryad Global, 2020). Dissimilar to past years,
piracy attacks had significantly reduced, leading to the ideology that piracy was no longer a
threat in the Indian Ocean waters. However, after Dryad Global's notions, several piracy
incidents were reported in the remaining part of 2019 (Dryad Global, 2020). More threatening,
eight more incidents were reported by mid-2020 within the Gulf of Aden in particular.
From the increased number of reports on the Gulf of Aden, maritime security and clients must
develop awareness and readiness on possible piracy. The analysis presented by Dryad Global
we’re on the basis that pirate attacks had decreased in number due to the tight maritime security.
After the reports, the Gulf of Aden needs to operate under the perspective that piracy may not be
a threat when not taking place, but the Gulf would be subjected to a challenging situation when
the time comes.
