Introduction
As the body matures certain functions of the body are altered such as neurological
functions in the brain that helps an individual do day to day tasks. Mr. M is a 70 year old male
that resides at an assisted living facility with comorbidities such as hypertension,
hypercholesteremia, status post appendectomy, and tibial fracture status postsurgical repair with
no obvious signs of complications. This paper will discuss a case study based on past 2 months
of Mr. M health care that will address issues in the change of his deteriorating health.
CLINICAL MANIFESTATIONS
Mr. M is a 70-year-old male whose clinical state has been deteriorating in the past two months.
He has trouble remembering things including names of family members, his room number and
even repeating what he has just read. He also gets agitated easily and is aggressive. He seems
afraid and fearful every time he is aggressive. He’s also been found to wander at night and
frequently gets lost needing assistance to get back to his room. Two months ago, he was capable
of doing most activities of daily living (ADLs) but is now dependent on others. He stays in an
assisted living facility.
His temperature, blood pressure, heart rate, respiratory rate and oxygen saturation are within
normal ranges. Protein, AST and ALT levels are also within normal ranges. He has an elevated
white blood cell and lymphocyte count.
Past Medical History
Mr. M is a known hypertensive on Angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors. His
hypertension is controlled. He also has hypercholesterolemia, has had an appendectomy and a
tibial fracture that was repaired surgically with no complications.
