Question 1
Directional strategies help an organization to manage growth, increase profits and
achieve its strategic objectives. For years, Toyota has positioned itself as a cheap car
manufacturer compared to most of its competitors. To increase profitability, Toyota focuses
on manufacturing more vehicles and selling them worldwide to outcompete its competitors
like General Motors. Likewise, Toyota’s marketing strategy helps it to reach its customers
and position itself in the market as the automobile manufacturer of choice. It entails the
various strategies that Toyota uses to attract and retain customers and explore new markets
worldwide.
Operational strategies help an organization to minimize resource wastage, including
time and human resources needed in its production process. Toyota uses lean manufacturing
methodologies like Total Quality Management, which minimize wastes and increase overall
product quality. These lean strategies help to cut costs and increase its profitability. On the
other hand, the human resource strategy helps Toyota increase employee relationships,
increase job satisfaction and increase employee productivity. Consequently, employee
performance increases, resulting in an overall increase in company performance and
positioning as an employer of choice in the market. As a result, Toyota can attract and retain
top talent in the automobile industry. Thus, the company can increase its innovativeness and
competitiveness by producing superior products due to professionalism in the manufacturing
process.
