SUPPLY CHAIN PLAN 2
Supply Chain Plan
Introduction
Supply chain planning refers to the process that focuses on accurately planning
and integrating the journey or operation of a product or a material from the point of its raw
material to the final stage of the consumer (Lummus, Vokurka & Alber, 1998). The procedure
incorporates supply planning, production planning, sales planning, distribution planning, and
demand planning. Studies reveal that organizations equipped with high-performing supply
chains system often attain significant revenue growth and excellent market breakthrough.
Also, such companies enjoy lower supply chain costs, with less than 50 percent of inventory
holdings and efficient cash-to-cash cycles.
1. Value Chain and Flow of Structure
This is a business model that analyzes the whole variety of activities necessary
to create a product or service. The value chain incorporates the relevant steps that consider
involving introducing a product from its conception stage to distribution, including other
factors such as manufacturing functions, marketing activities, and procuring raw materials
(Walters & Lancaster, 2000). The main objective of conducting a value-chain analysis is to
enhance the production efficiency to deliver an optimum value for the least possible cost.
Value chain and flow of structure allow an organization to analyze their
operational systems by working together towards turning inputs into outputs to create
customer value. The strategy includes critical production tasks and supportive activities to
formulate an accurate picture of the business. Also, it consists of supply chain coordination,
deployment and procurement of resources, and overall costs. Therefore, the firm’s
outstanding value is determined by conducting the most efficient and promising means
possible while being consistent at delivering maximum value to the targeted customers.
