Is there more value in vengeance (revenge) or virtue (forgiveness)?

There is more value in virtue than vengeance. Forgiveness is essential to a person since it

involves releasing the desire to revenge for the wrongs done to a person. Forgiveness also lessens

the person’s anger since the individual may decide to be compassionate about the wrong things

done to them. Consequently, virtue decreases the likelihood of experiencing stress and

depression that might result from hating on each other. However, revenge is of no value since it

involves harming another person or doing them wrong to satisfy one’s ego. Although revenge

might seem satisfying, the pleasure is short-term, and an individual might live with the guilt of

hurting others. Therefore, forgiveness has more value than revenge since it makes one stop

blaming others and not being angry with them.

Furthermore, forgiveness is of more value than vengeance since one release emotional

suffering and pain through the act. Both the victim and the offender would experience freedom

when they embrace forgiveness. Additionally, forgiveness is a powerful tool in ensuring

continued friendship among people. In some cases, friends might get offended and would want to

seek revenge. However, embracing forgiveness results in stronger friendships where both parties

benefit. Therefore, forgiveness is crucial as it ensures stronger friendship bonds when people

decide to let go of the grudge between them.
