Types of cultural traditions related to health literacy are important for the counseling
process.
Culture refers to a specific way of interacting with a group, people, or nations. It
influences the customs, behaviors, and understanding of a given community. Culture is not
inborn but developed through human intellect. Cultural health is one of the cultures that unite
several people and nations. Health literacy can develop significant meanings concerning culture
(Crowe, 2018). Different communities have their own beliefs towards health or diseases. Many
people have their personal views about health problems. They seek health care from diverse
doctors, respond differently to the treatments and recommendations towards their lifestyle.
Health culture differs in communication style. Patients and their families require mutual
understanding and practical communication skills between them and the healthcare practitioners.
The content and results encountered in health care are both influenced by health literacy and
culture (Crowe, et.al 2018). Most health ideas result in misunderstanding due to improper
communication. Some patients, especially the aged, can fail to understand the communication
language of their counselors. The counseling process is greatly affected by poor communication.
How traditions affect the counseling process.
Occasionally, patients who do not understand the doctor’s communication language
require an interpreter to know the doctor’s prescription. Different traditions affect the counseling
process (Crowe, et.al, 2018). Culture grants a way of understanding and information, and it also
explains how people gain an experience of their health conditions. Elements such as social,
