How the Definition of “American” is being challenged with the Use of Discrimination, or
Prejudice.
O - Unit centered Opinion - Ethnic studies, the study of the histories, experiences, cultures, and
issues of racial-ethnic groups in America, is based on 7 principles that are; cultivate empathy,
community actualization, cultural perpetuity, self-worth, self-determination, and the holistic well-
being of all participants, especially native people and people of color (CV De los Ríos, J López, E
Morrell, 2015). These principles advocate for inculcation of all to ensure equity and inclusivity in
provisions of services and social amenities. This is the building block to ensuring a sense of

America and exposes the link between discrimination and stress, as well as the consequences for
relationships, jobs, and overall health. Parents, classmates, and observations of how the world

Evidence - Robert Wood Johnson (2007), in a research conducted, “Discrimination in
America” show that 50% of Black Americans have been personally discriminated against because
