Data Structure
What is a data structure? According to Cplusplus.com (2000-2009), “A data structure is a
group or relationship of data elements grouped together under one name. These data elements,
known as members, can have different types and different lengths” (para. 1). Advanced
familiarity concerning the relationship among data items permits the designing algorithms for the
management of said data. A further look into complex data structures, arrays, and modular design
will allow the reader to acquire a simple understanding of each.
Complex Data Structure
Complex data structures, like, arrays, and modular design are created to simplify programming
tasks. Complex data structures add additional abstraction layers to underlying data components of a
program.
Assuming one may need to find the meaning of count number of integer positive numbers. One of
the simplest solutions would look like this in C++ like program:
int find_mean (int* pNums, int count)
{
int total = 0 ;
for (int i = 0 ; i < count; i++)
{
total += pNums [i] ;
}
return total/ count ;
}
