Leadership
Kouzes & Posner (2017) explain that leadership is a critical relationship between the
people who aspire to lead and those who decide to follow. Leaders can only do extraordinary
things through the support of their followers who follow similar trails through a common
blueprint of actions. Ordinary people leading others in the ground-breaking journeys of
leadership to do extraordinary things in their organizations follow the five practices of
leadership, namely, modeling the way, inspiring a shared vision, challenging the process,
enabling others to act, and encouraging the heart. These five practices must be encompassed by
all exemplary leaders and anyone who accepts the leadership challenge. Besides, the practices
are pertinent in the present context as they help leaders pull various leadership challenges.
Kouzes & Posner (2017) provide a path for successful leadership among organizational
leaders globally. These lessons are inspirational and applicable to the real world of leadership.
Besides, the concepts gained in the course have widened my knowledge of leadership and
associated practices. The leadership concepts learned from the extensive course are relevant and
pertinent to my professional career and the areas I plan to venture into in the future. This paper
will summarize the most important concepts I have learned about leadership within the course.
The Five Practices of Leadership
According to Kouzes & Posner (2018), leaders can build feisty and determined teams by
fostering alliance and facilitating collaboration among their employees. This can be achieved by
involving others dynamically and understanding the importance of respect and mutual
