Problem Statement
Need Statement
Diabetes mellitus is the study's central condition, a typical community health issue in
the United States and globally. The need for research is driven by the low chances of diagnosis in
the early stages, leading many patients into stage two or stage three diabetes. Higher levels of the
illness typically result in more profound management constraints, which are made worse by the
lack of a cure. Therefore, it is imperative to improve detection and diagnosis patterns for
Diabetes at early stages to give patients a better chance of efficient disease management.
Population and Setting
The prevalence of type two Diabetes across Hispanic populations is significantly
higher than the US average (Aguayo-Mazzucato et al., 2018). The statistics are widely justified
by sociocultural factors, including low income and limited access to healthcare. Hispanics are
also prone to obesity and profound insulin resistance due to genetic factors. This study will
include Hispanic adults aged between 21 and 75 years, capable of communicating and
consenting with clinical appointments. The project will be conducted in a primary health center
in Baja, California, that provides urgent care. The clinic serves in an area predominated by
Hispanic communities and has been widely linked to the prevalence of type 2 diabetes.
According to Pacheco et al. (2018), Diabetes is the leading cause of death among rural
communities in Baja, making it a significant community health issue. More specifically, type 2
diabetes is typical in the region, and the patterns are highly associated with a lack of education.
