Republicans and democrats are the two main parties that dominate America’s political sector.
These two political parties are within the same landscape but differ in their ideas and
philosophies. The two political parties differ in issues such as environmental policies, taxes,
regulations, immigrations, gun control and abortion. When it comes to taxes, the democrats
believe in progressive taxation. They believe that the people with a high income should pay more
taxes. On the contrary, the republicans believe in having a same tax rate applying to all
taxpayers. In the stance on government regulations, the democrats believe that government
regulations are necessary to safeguard consumers while the republicans believe that government
regulations hinders job growth, capitalism and free market. The health sector is another field that
brings differences between the democrats and the republicans. The democrats believe that the
government is responsible for supporting a strong healthcare to ensure that the individuals
receive quality services in healthcare. The democrats believe in the healthcare policy that was
formulated by Obama popularly known as Obamacare. The republicans on the other side believe
that the private healthcare facilities offer the best healthcare services to patients. The republicans
oppose Obamacare as they have less trust on government health services. The social ideas of the
republicans and the democrats also differ and affects their membership. The democrats believe in
community and social responsibility while the republicans believe in justice and individual

rights. Despite the ideological differences between the two parties, they are governed by similar
laws and regulations.
The group goals of the political parties influence individuals in different ways. The differences
brings out different movements by individuals when they wish the government to address the
issues. When a policy is implemented and the democrats find that it favors the republicans, they
participate in demonstrations to request their rights. The differences among the parties also
affects the social life of the affected individuals. Some people will not be in good terms with
their colleagues because of their differences. Some colleagues might be friends but when it
comes to the political issues, they tend to bring out an aspect of enmity. Some might end up
leaving their friendship because of their political differences.
The differences in the political parties has led to the formation of in-groups and out-groups. The
in-groups formed connects the democrats or republicans who have the same cooperation and
political ideologies. The out-groups are members with different political opinions.
2) Pick a celebrity, famous politician, or business leader who has been arrested
recently. What crime did he or she allegedly commit? Who was the victim? Why
and how does should this person be punished. What role does the person’s celebrity
play?
A famous businessman in Haverhill committed a crime of not appearing in court with a claimed
crime of owning unlicensed gun linked with an incident that took place at his office. Malcolm
Kimball is the named businessman accused of the crime and the victim in the recorded incident
is non-mentioned man who was shot in the head and a police officer whose investigation was
