Samsung Electronics is a South Korean-based multinational company and a world’s
leader in the production of electronic devices. Its products range from electrical appliances to
semiconductors, chips, and digital media devices. Samsung Electronics entered the market in
1969 with focus on electronic devices including the TVs. Samsung has mostly been successful
over the years due to advancement in technology that saw it produce more sophisticated
semiconductors, LCD screens, and computer chips, which largely boost its share in the market. A
significant success story started in the 2000s when it started manufacturing the Samsung Galaxy
Series. The company has a presence and sales network in more than 70 countries, employing
about 320,000 people (Seung-hyun, 2019). Samsung manufactures phone batteries, chips, and
memory devices for its customers, such as Apple Inc, Nokia, and Sony.
Major issues:
Samsung significant issues started in 2016 when it released the Samsung Galaxy Note 7.
This Smartphone series was anticipated to be a significant debut following the success in the
previous series. However, the company was forced to recall this model shortly and halt its
production altogether due to issues with the battery that reportedly caught fire. The problem was
a huge blow to the revenues of the company as well as brand image. The quality issue obviously
affected the reputation that Samsung had consistently tried to build for many years. The incidents
of overheating that suddenly led to battery explosions caused property damage in the U.S along
with more incidences of burn. Eventually, the company recalled 2.5 million Smartphone and
replaced it with safety Note 7 (Suman, 2017). However, the substitutes also suffered the same
