Sustainable Engineering Science for Resolving Wicked Problems
Sustainability has been the topic of discussion among so many scholars with some
arguing that research should be used to enhance it and others are not for the same opinion. Most
scholars feel that science is the key to sustainability since it can solve most problems in the fields
of technology and engineering (Seager 469). I agree with the author on the idea that innovations
will be of so much help to the people of the next generations hence sustainability is an aspect
involving industrialization. I also conquer with the motive of improving sustainability through
increasing the number of programs meant for researching so as to make the universe a more
habitable place to the human race (Seager 472).
I am not for the idea that consumerism does not play a key role to foster sustainability.
Also the idea of traditional conservation is not up to date with tackling sustainability. However,
engineering and technology have made items efficient and economical hence people promote
their use. One of the errors made in the article is underestimating the power of system
engineering since it does not only improve sustainability but it can be the main reason behind its
success (Seager 4750.
I am bound to think that engineering science is entirely meant to handle problems related

evaluated from time to time. It should be applied in various dimensions such as in the personal
level and group level. The wicked issues are supposed to be controlled and avoided in advance
rather than dealing with them when they have occurred. (Seager 478). Educating people on
sustainability will be a good decision of dealing with the issue of wicked problems.
