Introduction
This paper presents the development of a sustainable monitoring system applicable to
continuous water parameter monitoring on Lakes Palic and Ludas in Serbia. Considering the
overall deterioration of water quality throughout the world, numerous researchers made efforts
(Ghumman, 2010; Markogianni et al., 2014; Horvat et al., 2020) to provide methodologies
capable of inhibiting this degradation.
General Overview and Rationale
The water quality issues are tackled in various manners by different researchers. For
example, AL-Fahdawi et al. (2015) considered remote sensing and GIS techniques of Lake Al-
Habbaniyah. Ghumman (2010) assessed Rawal Lake's water quality in Pakistan impaired due to
high pollution detected the inflow, implementing both temporal and spatial analysis. Horvat et al.
(2020) conducted thorough research to evaluate the current monitoring approach of Lakes Palic
and Ludas in Serbia (Figs. 1. and 2.), finding the current approach ineffective.

Location of Lakes Palic and Ludas 3 The presented work provides a solution to the listed monitoring issues focusing on Lakes Palic and Ludas. By developing a simple, Arduino based (Gokulanathan, 2019), low-budget monitoring system capable of significantly increasing the density of both spatial and temporal data sampling complemented with a sim-car ...
