CHAPTER III

In this chapter of the research, the researchers will discuss the procedures and

methods that are used in this study, instruments used to collect the data, and

the statistical treatments of data.

Research design

In order to know the effect of online learning on the communication

between the students and teachers during the covid-19 pandemic, the survey

was used. With this, the research questions will be answered easily by the data

in the questionnaire. Survey is a research method used for collecting data from

a predefined group of respondents to gain information and insights into various

topics of interest. They can have multiple purposes, and researchers can conduct

it in many ways depending on the methodology chosen and the study’s goal.

Survey research is an especially useful approach when a researcher aims to

describe or explain features of a very large group or group. In this case, a survey

may help a researcher identify specific individuals or locations from which to

collect additional data.

Population and locale of the study

The research study is about the communication between students and

teachers during covid-19 pandemic. The respondents will be the grade 12

students of St. Josephs institute Inc. The study will be conducted through social

media platforms like Facebook messenger and etc. The respondents will answer

the given questionnaires made by the researchers. The researchers will send the

questionnaire via Fcebok messenger, email, and Instagram due to the pandemic.

The study will be conducted in the second semester of the academic year 2021-

2022.

Instruments

The instrument that will be used is a questionnaire which will be

distributed online. In the preparation of the instrument, the researchers will

consider what should and should not be included especially the options that the

respondents will choose from the questionnaire. Through this, the instrument is

certified to acquire valid responses from the respondents.

This online questionnaire will be consisting of three parts. The first part

will be the gathering of the respondent’s personal information such as their name

and grade level. The researchers will respect the respondent’s anonymity and

makes the name optional. The second part will be consisting of 6 items related

to the research topic where respondents can fill the box of their chosen answer.

The last part will be consisting of open-ended questions where respondents can

answer based on their knowledge and understanding.
