IMPACTS OF HUMAN ENCROACHMNENT ON COASTS 2
Impacts of Human Encroachment on Coasts
The coastal areas for quite a long time have been affected by human encroachment and
human activities. Coastal organisms such as plants and animals are disturbed by human beings'
encroachment into the coast (Cui, 2019). The research will explore the effects of human
encroachment on plant growth. It will also explore the effects of coastal encroachment on the
coastal organisms. Many people never understand the impact which is done on coastal habitats
when human being encroach into it. The paper will also explore some other topics related to
human encroachment on the coastal environment. The topic includes the erosion of coastal areas
and the diversity of species in the coastal environment. In the research, I will specifically
concentrate on the effects human beings have on the coastal environment.
The human encroachment to coastal areas causes' disturbance to the coastal environment.
Currently, about 70 percent of the population is migrating to coastal areas. When the population
migrates to coastal areas, vegetation is destroyed to give room for building structures for
settlement (Cantera, 2019). Vegetation act as a home for different organisms. When the
vegetation is destroyed, the organism finds no home for settlement and are forced to migrate to
other areas. In the event of migration, some species of animals die because of a lack of food.
When human beings encroach coastal areas, some scientific methods are used to clear vegetation
for settlement. The methods used can also affect animals and plants. For example, when human
beings use chemicals to clear vegetation, the chemical may affect organisms' lives. Plants may
dry as a result, and also aquatic life is also threatened. The release of toxic materials in the
environment has affected the development of fish in coastal areas. Some chemicals used in the
ecosystems lead to fish's death when the chemicals reach the oceans and seas.
