BURNOUT
Burnout is a condition of emotional tiredness and the loss of personal identity and emotional
detach to a patient or a client, and a reduced sense of personal deeds in one’s work, which has
been noticed in human services, business, education, and governmental occupations.
Some of its symptoms includes physical, psychological, and changes in behavior.
Currently, burnout in nursing is connected to the higher acuity levels in facilities, fewer support
staff, and shortage of nurses (Maslach, Christina, et al 2017). This, in turn, has led to the loss of
many jobs and minimal satisfaction to the patients by the care provided by the nurses.

signs and symptoms of burnout
burnout manifests itself in constant tiredness, irritability, depression, sleeping disorder, having
difficulty in focusing, negative feelings on one's occupation, the belief that one's deeds do not
influence other people, and is easily separated from someone emotionally.
Nurses are undergoing burnout, and it is difficult to assign them duties, fearing the failure to
perform the task reliably by others (Ho, Rainbow Tin Hung, et al. 2016). The also ever feels tired
and inattentive at work, making them hardly feel pleasure, making them forget about their
requirements, ending up feeling alone and secluded, misconstrued, and unrewarded. As the
occupation demands more time to attend to patients and families, the nurse feels intruded since
they find little time to top off themselves.
Strategies for burnout prevention
Focus- it entails putting one's full attention and energy on one activity at a time and completing
it before moving to another task. This has several positive impacts on the person; for example,
focus improves the outcomes of a project since the there are more chances that the person will
find the activities much enjoyable and will direct total attention to them since burnout is highly
contributed to the presence of numerous unfinished project that also require much attention.
Awareness- it involves the immediate identification of the stressing issue in someone’s life,
which puts it into an outlook. This makes it easier to deal with the issues once it is known.
