Farah khan is a feminist activist, a Muslim artist, an educator and a queer who has

demonstrated her fight against intersectional feminism and social injustice through her

movement “marching and coming together in Toronto”. In her work, Khan calls upon all women

globally to step up and join forces in condemning various forms of discriminations such as

gender and racial oppressions. This journal explores the topic “marching and coming together in

Toronto” and how it changes the societal perception on women and girls.

Khan acknowledges the work of her predecessors who formed vibrant movements whose

prime objective was to speak against the injustices women and people of different colors

experienced from their immediate communities. She appeals to each member of the society to

continue with the good fight their forefathers started whenever they feel oppressed regardless of

their race and gender (Hamdon, 2018). The movement empowered by khan is important for a

better future in that when everyone is brought on board, a sense of belonging is created. Respect

of color and gender brings equality among community members as a result peace is created.

We need equality in our communities and the entire nation as a whole for prosperity

purposes. Also, there is need to consider color and gender before distribution of power so that

people of a given race and gender don’t feel marginalized. The blog post impacts positively in

the society by speaking against all forms of oppressions and discriminations such as racism,

sexism, feminism and heterosexism. Finally, topic contributes to a more just and hospitable

world by sensitizing the society against all forms of oppressions for instance, gender oppression,

racial oppression and sexual oppression.
